Atmospheric plume simulations

Whereas the marine plume and habitability, that is, environmental impact, simulations are conducted on unstructured triangle meshes, the atmospheric cases utilize structured meshes. Particularly for short range simulations we have developed some of the most rapid finite volume algorithms. These permit for the rapid and accurate forecasting of dynamic atmospheric plume distributions. A sub-module for the Global Autonomous Impact Assessment's (GAIA) simulation, the 3D Shelf Marine and Atmosphere Reactive Transport (3D SMART), is the Shelf Marine and Atmosphere Radionuclide Transport (SMART) model. That is, the model also can encompass e.g. regionally gamma radiation emitter plumes or locally odour plumes from sewage treatment plants.
